1920s hair

Today we had our first hair class and seeing as we are doing a project on decades we started with 1920s and 1930s hair. We had a "sally head" which is just a plastic head with hair. First of all we did finger waves the way it would of been done in the twenties. It looked so much easier than it actually was but after I had practiced a couple of times I got the hang of it.

Then we had to use tongs to make waves in the hair and then you just brush the curl out to create the wave.

Then we had to make a fake bob because most women didn't want to cut their hair off when the bob came into fashion. So they would curl the hair and then place it flat on the head and pin. You keep doing that until you get to the top layer then you get the last layer and tuck it under the rolls and pin into place with clips. I already have short hair but if I didn't I'd definitely try it.

This is the first time I've done hair before. I never do anything with my hair so I was pretty proud of myself haha. Next week we're doing 40s-50s so that should be fun! I'll post some pictures if I do finger waves in my own hair :)
